PointReyes@CA-Day6/21

-->
Date: 22 Sept 2011, Thursday
Route: North of San Francisco
[Tomales bay oyster company@Marshall -> Point Reyes National Seashore@Point Reyes Station (Drakes Beach > Lighthouse)]
Time: ~2 hours drive from Santa Clara
We were heading to the north of San Francisco where passed by the Golden Gate Bridge (without toll fee) to look for the BBQ at Tomales bay oyster farm. On the way, we taken a route where look like a great ocean road in Australia -> high class version of Balik Pulau in Penang. It took us around 2 ½ hour to arrive the Bear Valley Visitor Center. From there, we were heading to Tomales bay oyster company. We spent almost 3 hours BBQ there and heading to Drakes Beach where on the way could see Elk. Well, no luck… we did not see any Elk around. After that, we drive ~10mins and arrived lighthouse car park… we need to take a 1km walk and only arrive the lighthouse point. Unfortunately, the entrance of lighthouse was closed at 4:30pm. Around this place, it’s look like Australia’s Philip Island.
The animal that we could catch out along the year in Point Reyes National Seashore:
Tule elk (summer), Black-tailed deer (autumn), Blue or Humpback whales (autumn), Coho Salmon eggs (winter/Jan, Feb), Elephant seal (early winter), Gray whales (winter/Dec).
Bear Valley Visitor Center... Drive time from here to Lighthouse: 45 min, Drakes Beach: 30 min, Tomales Point: 30 min)

Monterey@CA-Day4-5/21

-->
Date: 21 Sept 2011, Wednesday
Route: Monterey
[Whale watching trip -> (attend conference) -> walk around downtown -> Bixby Bridge]
Time: 1 hour 30 mins from Santa Clara

On the boat now... morning weather so cold...

Spotting whale coming out...

Bitter smile... he was not feeling well... maybe not sleep well last night... and windy, the boat up and down... pening...

Here it is... just saw a small black object from far away. Never have chance to see them entire body.

Sea otter... 'floating' on the sea... so relax...

Brown pelican...

Shark?!!!

It is whale dolphin :)

Trip end. Spend whole morning to spot the whale... anyway, still can see dolphin, brown pelican and sea otter. I'm wearing 3 layers.

Engaged with this agent for the whale watching. I think ~USD40 per ticker per person. Worth?

After last time lunch experience, we won't pick that standard of restaurant in this area. Well, we got a free voucher from that Whale Watching. FOC bread... Can't take it... too hard.

This is our FOC appetizer... fried Calamari (actually already paid in that Whale Watching USD40 :p)

Hehe... our main dish... just order 1 main dish.

I like this... crab chowder.

Lunch: Old Fisherman’s Grotto(Calamari Appetizer, Cup of chowder 6.95, Wharf Platter 26.95)=40 plus tax

Walk around alone... he was attending Conference.

Near by there has a beach...

Wu liao..

Heading to south along Highway 1 to dramatic Big Sur, a 26-mile stretch of coastline winding through steep canyons and seaside cliffs.

Just get an evidence to show that I really been here... since so foggy... can't see the Bixby Bridge clearly.

This is the Bixby Bridge.

Under the Bixby Bridge.
