Route: North of San Francisco
[Tomales bay oyster company@Marshall -> Point Reyes National Seashore@Point Reyes Station (Drakes Beach > Lighthouse)]
Time: ~2 hours drive from Santa Clara
We were heading to the north of San Francisco where passed by the Golden Gate Bridge (without toll fee) to look for the BBQ at Tomales bay oyster farm. On the way, we taken a route where look like a great ocean road in Australia -> high class version of Balik Pulau in Penang. It took us around 2 ½ hour to arrive the Bear Valley Visitor Center. From there, we were heading to Tomales bay oyster company. We spent almost 3 hours BBQ there and heading to Drakes Beach where on the way could see Elk. Well, no luck… we did not see any Elk around. After that, we drive ~10mins and arrived lighthouse car park… we need to take a 1km walk and only arrive the lighthouse point. Unfortunately, the entrance of lighthouse was closed at 4:30pm. Around this place, it’s look like Australia’s Philip Island.
The animal that we could catch out along the year in Point Reyes National Seashore:
Tule elk (summer), Black-tailed deer (autumn), Blue or Humpback whales (autumn), Coho Salmon eggs (winter/Jan, Feb), Elephant seal (early winter), Gray whales (winter/Dec).
Bear Valley Visitor Center... Drive time from here to Lighthouse: 45 min, Drakes Beach: 30 min, Tomales Point: 30 min)
